AT&T bringing LTE to 50 more markets by the end of 2013

As Part of AT&T's Project VIP Investment, More Customers Can Look Forward to Connecting on the Nation's Fastest and Most Reliable 4G LTE Network


DALLAS, TEXAS, AUGUST 21, 2013 -AT&T* plans to roll out 4G LTE in at least 50 additional markets by the end of this year, bringing even more customers all the benefits of the nation's fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network**. AT&T 4G LTE currently covers more than 225 million people and 370 markets, and by the end of 2013, coverage is expected to expand to nearly 270 million people and more than 400 markets.

Markets that are scheduled to have AT&T 4G LTE service by the end of the year are:

17. Paducah, KY-IL

22. Jackson, MI

23. Joplin, MO

AT&T's 4G LTE deployment is part of AT&T's Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced last fall to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks. Through this investment, AT&T is supporting its customers' growing desire for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud-based services. As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to add more than 10,000 macro cell sites nationwide by year-end 2015, as well as deploy more than 40,000 small cells and add more than 1,000 Distributed Antenna Systems to increase the density of its wireless network.
